Telehealth appointments

Telehealth has many benefits to offer

Mind Psychology offers telehealth as an ongoing way to attend psychology sessions. You can access psychological support from the comfort and privacy of home, by secure video or by phone. Face-to-face sessions remain available at our clinic in Melbourne’s west. Telehealth can suit people who prefer to meet from a private location, have limited transport, or need an appointment that is easier to fit around work, study, or family.

  • Increased access to services. Telehealth provides increased opportunities to access psychological services, particularly for those with physical, medical, or mobility impairments, limited time, and limited access to transport.
  • Increased likelihood of continued care. Changing therapists can be destabilising and stressful. A frequent concern we hear from clients, particularly in small regional towns, is that therapist turnover is high and therapists regularly leave. With telehealth, the location of your therapist is irrelevant. Even if you or your therapist move, your treatment can continue without interruption.
  • Flexibility. Some after-hours appointments, including evening sessions, may be available. Please contact reception to check current times.
  • Increased comfort and convenience. Telehealth enables people to access therapy from the comfort of their own home or preferred private location. This saves travel time and the stress associated with getting to and from face-to-face appointments.

Telepsychology and Medicare rebates

A Medicare rebate for psychology sessions needs a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, or a referral from a psychiatrist. Please speak with your doctor about whether a plan is appropriate for you. Where a rebate applies, the current amounts are $149.45 for a clinical psychologist and $101.50 for a general psychologist.
